Cinco de Mayo was a festive day at The Windsor of Ocala. The Life Enrichment Room and Reflections were festively decorated as we celebrated at our Fiesta. The residents enjoyed Mexican cuisine, trivia and music. When asked how the party was, the answer was unanimous...MUY BUENO!
All of The Windsor mothers enjoyed sipping their tea as they were honored at a lovely Tea Party. The Lif Enrichment room was beautifully decorated with vintage lace table loths, antique tea cups and fresh hydrangeas.
The Windsor of Ocala residents celebrated National Senior Fitness Day. We held a Basketball "Hoop Shoot" contest as well as a Walk-A-Thon. Conestants ranged in age from 60 years to 102! All contestants received ribbons for their efforts and are living proof you can be fit at any age!
Memorial Day Weekend was fun-filled at The Windsor of Ocala. The fun began with Memorial Day Trivia and Poetry and an old-fashioned BBQ prepared by Chef Justin. We sang patriotic songs and enjoyed a buys ride to Highland Memorial Park and the Veteran's Park in Ocala. We finished off the weekend with a game of Bingo and a sing-a-long by the piano in the living room.
On June 14 we celebrated Flag Day with a special presentation by The Angelo Santos V.F.W.
The Windsor of Ocala held its 1st Annual Pet Show on June 16. Proud residetns showed off their "Cool" Cats and "Hot" Dogs. It was a "howling" success, as all pets received an award!
Donuts with Dads was a sweet way to start off Father's Day at The Windsor of Ocala.
Raymond and Margaret McHenney celebrated their 61st wedding Anniversary on June 24th. They were married in Jackson, Michigan and went to Niagra Falls and New York City for their honeymoon. While in New York they visited the Statue of Liberty and saw "Break the Bank" on Broadway. Their secret to a successful marriage is to work as a team. Ray went to work and brought home the money...and Margaret managed it!
On June 23rd The Windsor of Ocala hosted the 2nd Annual "Good Old Summertime" Fashion Show. Modeling in the fashion show came easy To Merle Carpenter who was a fashion model in the 1940's. Her son, Steven, grandaughter, Stacey, and great-granddaughters, Elizabeth, Sarah and Rebecca enjoyed seeing Nana walk the runway!
July 4th was a day of celebration at The Windsor of Ocala. We enjoyed watermelon after playing Yankee Doodle Bingo and dined on an All-American meal complete with apple pie. We may not have had fireworks, but the day sure ended with a Bang!
We helped celebrate the Ice Cream Cone's Birthday on July 23. The ice cream cone was introduced at the St. Louis World's Fair in 1904. One of our favorite ways to cool off in the hot summer is outings to Bruster's Ice Cream in Ocala.
